About the Bar
The Cailleach, also known as Beira, Queen of Winter, is a figure in Scottish & Irish folklore, said to have created the beautiful and mountainous landscapes of the isles and to have supplied these lands with storms and wintry weather. She is said to rule the Autumn and Winter months, while the goddess Brigid rules the Spring and Summer seasons. She is also responsible for the Scottish version of Groundhog Day. Legend states that if February 1st is bright and sunny, it means that she is gathering more firewood for the winter and will, therefore, make winter last a lot longer. But if the weather that day is bad, it means she is sleeping and winter will soon be over.
